Handset Manufacturers can monetize the real estate they have on the phone cover..

OEM (Handset manufacturers) can monetize the real estate they have on the phone cover. Currently it's blank and can be imprinted with advertisers logo on the back. Such handset can be subsidized than the one with out an ads on it. The beauty of this is that when people talk, the cover of the phone gets displayed to other people. Not to dilute the value of such ads, there shouldn't be more than 2 ads on the cover.

It can be also be implemented by small business owners who are in business of selling the handsets. But if that's simple why not anyone doing it?

The next big boost for Apple can come from Mac laptops..

I travel roughly 200k miles every year for last 3 years. Never the less I have noticed 30% people having Mac laptops (Pro, Air etc.) at airports, lounges. Even in my own company, 8 people have switched to Mac  from Lenovos. I saw the same usage with iPad last year, iPhone 2 years back hence i seriously believe that Mac will indeed take over traditional Dell/Lenovos unless the later do something about the form factor.

What do you think?

Can App store be a success in India?

May be but it depends on how one defines success. If we discount rural population then it won't be as distribution plays a major role in India. Unlike here in US, Majority of the products including wireless connections are sold thru mom & pop shops in India. An average consumer pays money in exchange of some physical product rather going to a AppStore and download something. Given the circumstances, how does one grow its applications usage in India.

I believe that easiest answer lies in leveraging existing distribution coupling it with technology. Most of the smartphones or even medium range phones comes with micro-sd card slot. One can put the content URL on a cheap sd-card; wrap in a small pouch and sell it like other products in India. This SD card when inserted into the phone, downloads (or stream) content from the wireless operator site. To keep the costs low, the sd-card doesn't carry the content but the link. Also it helps in containing privacy as each link can be unique (when used becomes useless).
